Draped over the neck of a horse and resting proudly on its chest, the Alamar knot is a symbol of patience, discipline, and devotion. For generations, the vaqueros of Old California were known for their unmatched horsemanship. They spent years guiding young horses through each careful step of training – never rushing the process, always honoring the tradition of “Joaquinima a Freno.”

This same spirit guides the way we make wine at Alamar. Just as a finished California bridle horse requires time, dedication, and respect for every detail, so too does a bottle of wine. From the coastal range land were our grapes are grown to the cellar where they are aged, we carry forward the vaquero’s values – patience, craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Felipe Pacheco, Cow Boss of the Santa Margarita Ranch and my great-great-grandfather, was one of these respected horsemen. This wine is dedicated to him and to all the horsemen of California who taught us that excellence cannot be hurried. In both horses and wine, the lesson is the same: never skip a step, never rush the process. After all, there is always “mañana”.
